This workshop covers fundamental health literacy concepts and practical communication skills, including plain language, teach-back, ask-offer-ask, and effective use of health resources and materials.
You will learn how to:
- Understand health literacy and its impact on care
- Create a welcoming and supportive care environment
- Use plain language in written and verbal communication
- Use teach-back to confirm understanding
- Apply ask-offer-ask in patient conversations
- Support patients and families to participate more fully in their care
This program is facilitated by the Self-Management Program of Southeast Ontario, and hosted by the Kingston Community Health Centres.
